Warming Hearts

We had the great fortune of recently becoming friends with an amazing young lady, Frances. Frances in pursuit of her Girl Scout Gold Award began the project “Warming Hearts.” The gold award is the highest honor that a girl scout can earn and requires that the scout take lead in implementing a plan that will have a sustainable impact on society.

Seeing how  Chemo Warriors struggle with keeping warm while receiving chemo treatments firsthand, Frances decided to tackle the problem head-on. She created a strategy to make as many blankets as she could to donate to local hospitals. She designed, advertised, and taught workshops to her community. Through her work, she collected a total of 70 beautiful blankets to donate to Chemo Warriors.

We were fortunate enough to receive these blankets to help spread hope and warmth as proof of Frances’ hard work and dedication. She not only taught her community to make blankets but showed them the power of working together to give to others in need.

Her blankets were designed with all age groups and genders in mind. Some of the 70 total blankets she donated are pictured above. Frances is truly an inspiration and we are so proud to have been part of her journey.

Last week, Frances was awarded her Gold Star award and we couldn’t be prouder of her. We know that this young lady will go on to do more amazing things.
