Our sweet friend, Melissa picked up our delivery for May, which consisted of 50 hats for children cancer warriors at CHOC and 141 baby items for St. Joseph’s.
The delivery for St. Joseph’s will be just in time for all the new moms on Mother’s Day! We were able to donate 3 blankets & matching baby hat sets, along with 135 other baby hats of various sizes, colors and styles.
We greatly appreciate everyone who made this special delivery possible and are so amazed that our grand total of hats delivered is 5,147! We are so appreciative of everyone on our team– you make a difference!

Please accept these hats and blankets. All were made in a non-smoke, non-pet home.
My hope is the are able to keep some little ones warm and bring some joy to their families.
Thank you! We so appreciate your generosity and are grateful you found us!
A new friend, Rosanne from New Jersey sent us these 40 hats for babies in the NICU.
She attached a card to each hat that reads:
Here’s a loom-knit hat

From bartleby & rowe
Her note reads:
We emailed last week- This is Box 1 of 2, full of loom knit hats, mostly preemie and baby sizes with a few others. I’m getting better at it, but these were my first ones. Box 2 is also in the mail.
Thanks for the work you do!

We received a box full of 70 adorable hats form Ceil and Pam in Florida.
Their note touches our heart with:
We are enclosing 70 hats made with love in a pet free, smoke free environment with acrylic yarn. We are best friends and neighbors who were looking for some type of hobby to do and chose to make and send these hats to you. What you are doing is our inspiration and we thank you.
We are so pleased that Pam and Ceil found us at the same moment they were looking for a hobby and chose to make these hats for our little warriors! We will include these in our next delivery and are certain that these hats will spread hope and love!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Cricket from New Jersey recently sent us a box full of these warm and cozy hats in all different sizes and colors.
Her short and sweet note read:
Hats for those who need them!
We are very appreciative of your generosity and continuous support! These will be included in our next delivery!
We love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! So I crocheted a hat thinking a young chemo warrior could appreciate a TMNT hat.
I think that these fun turtles have really stood the test of time and I think it is a great hat for the boys. Now I am not saying that these are not for girls as well but it is always a struggle to find hats that we think boys will appreciate. I think that one of the problems I have always encountered with looming the hats is that the hat is a bit bunchy at the top and for some reason that does not seem to appeal to boys. Crocheting this hat really made it nice and sleek and removes the bunchy hat problem. The double crochet stitch was surprisingly quick to crochet as well. I look forward to making more of these hats soon.
Cathy has been donating hats with us from the beginning of Knitting Rays and we are happy to showcase 3 of her newest creations:
These beautiful vibrant colors will surely brighten ones day. We are happy to have such long lasting friends that continue to help make Knitting Rays successful. It really is all of our friends that have allowed Knitting Rays to spread as much sunshine as we have. In a time full of uncertainties and waging tempers, it is nice to be able to look at this blog and see all the good in the world and the wonderful people in it.
We look forward to continuing to spread Rays of Sunshine to our NICU babies and cancer warriors. Thank you Cathy for helping us to do so.
Our good friend, Donna, from Washington, recently received a box full of 25 hats for children, toddlers and babies in bright, cheery colors that will most definitely brighten up many faces with smiles.
Donna includes a lovely note that reads:
Happy New Year! You will find 25 hats in this box- from the tiny to the large and in between.
There were made with Love and Joy too!
Blessings to you for all you are doing in the world.
We are so blessed to have such generous and supportive friends that believe in Knitting Rays of Hope! I especially appreciate Donna’s words of encouragement in email and her steadfast support! Sometimes her words are just what I need to keep going with our efforts. They are truly positive and inspirational when doubt creeps into my mind.
Thank you so much!
Our friend, Louisa from New Jersey, sent us this box full of warm and beautiful hats.

Our Ambassador of Hope, Melissa recently took these hats for children chemo warriors at CHOC.
Some of these hats were given to us by friends in July, but we are now delivering them as the weather cools down slightly in California. I am positive that these will bring hope and love to our pediatric chemo warriors!
Our grand total to date is now 4,219 hats delivered! We are so excited to see how far Knitting Rays of Hope has grown! We hope that we will be able to sustain this volume to keep all our local hospitals loved and warm. We thank each and every one of our team members who helped make this possible! We are blown away by how creative, generous and caring all of you are- striving to make a difference in our world! Keep spreading hope!
