October NICU Delivery

We recently delivered 72 hats for babies in the Ontario Kaiser NICU.

This delivery makes our total hats delivered 5,571 (to date)!  We are so proud of this and all of you that make this possible!
I apologize as I know we are behind, but my mother has been injured in a vehicle accident and I can only assist in a limited capacity due to my college classes.

Please keep sending your hats.  We are receiving them, and we promise to blog about them, as soon as we can.  We appreciate your patience and understanding!

Bright Inspirations from Washington!

Our good friend, Donna, from Washington, recently received a box full of 25 hats for children, toddlers and babies in bright, cheery colors that will most definitely brighten up many faces with smiles.

Donna includes a lovely note that reads:

December Delivery of 219 Items

Last week, our sweet friend, Melissa picked up and delivered 219 hats and scarves to the pediatric oncology center at CHOC.

We are so grateful to Melissa to make this happen for Knitting Rays of Hope, as well as all of our knitters who generously knit and contribute to keep Knitting Rays of Hope alive!  A little bit ago, we were informed that the children cancer center at CHOC wasn’t stocked as we originally had thought, and we had requested that our team concentrate on children and teenage sized hats.  It is because of you, that we were able to deliver 219 hats and scarves!  That is amazing, and we are so grateful!

With this delivery, Knitting Rays of Hope has been able to donate 4,487 hats, scarves and other knitted items!  This is amazing work, and we are making a difference and spreading warmth, love and hope!

Halloween Delivery

Last week, we delivered these treats to the NICU at Ontario Kaiser.

19 hats for Babies in the NICU

Though we had a magnificent October delivery earlier this month, we didn’t want these little Halloween gems to have to wait until next year.  So we pulled together what we had for babies and made a delivery of 19 adorable hats, including the little pumpkins, candy corn and monsters.  We are working on our November delivery, in which we are hoping to focus on our precious children chemo warriors!  We know that making really cute baby hats are fun, quick and easy, but we have been told that our children chemo centers are not as well supplied as we had once thought and are severely in need, especially the older children and teenagers.  So for the next couple of months, if not longer, we are making every effort to fulfill this need and show love for our pediatric chemo warriors.  If you are interested in helping us out, please email us (link).

A nurse at the Kaiser Ontario NICU, Wanda sent us a message on Facebook that said,

I work at the Kaiser Ontario Nicu and just wanted to let you know how much the parents love the Halloween hats. Your hats are always adorable but you have outdone yourselves this time. Thank you so much. You have no idea how much you are appreciated.

We cherish the feedback and greatly appreciate that the parents are loving our hats!  Yay- Team Knitting Rays of Hope!!!

Shirley’s Second Contribution

Shirley in Massachusetts sent a box full of adorable hats and 4 beautiful cowl scarves for our next delivery.

My First Crocheted Hats

Inspired by Vanessa and her ambition to crochet hats, I dipped into the crochet world and created these two hats.

My 1st crocheted hats attempts

I found a free crochet pattern that basically used a double crochet stitch online to follow.  Luckily we had 1 Captain America patch that was ready to go, which added a perfect pizzazz to a pretty simple hat.

Off to begin another crochet project to advance my hat making skills.

October Delivery of 227 Items

Last week, our dear friend Melissa delivered 227 items for Knitting Rays of Hope.  She delivered 111 items to CHOC, which included 98 hats, 11 scarves and 2 knitted purses for children cancer warriors.  She also took in 116 hats for babies in the NICU at St. Joesph’s in Orange County.

We are so proud of our entire team!  With this delivery, we have spread hope & love to over 4,000 families!  I am so proud of each and every one of you; without all of your efforts and love, none of this would be possible.  This month, Jazlyn coordinated the hats for delivery by tagging, photographing and counting them, and Melissa our delivery ambassador was crucial in picking the hats up and then delivering them to both hospitals!  If you contributed your hats to Knitting Rays of Hope, please know how wonderfully awesome you are and the impact you are making in the world!  Special thanks to our team– and what a special team they are!
