Some Sunshine Doo-Dads

Our good friend, Robin from Sunshine Doo-Dads in Phoenix, Arizona sent us these cheery hats of all sizes.

Chemo Caps

Robin’s note reads:

I am happy to be shipping off this over stuffed box to your wonderful cause!  I already had all but 1 of these hats completed when you issued your request for blankets.  Although I am not currently a blanket maker, I am going to learn so that I can contribute! Thank you for your efforts and providing so much with my donation

We love how Robin’s hope and cheery spirit is so contagious from her “Sunshine Doo-Dads” to her willingness to try to learn how to make blankets.  We are so grateful for Robin as a great supporter/friend and an active and consistent member of our community!

Have a great day!

Nancy’s Hard at Work

We received these wonderful hats from our dear friend Nancy. We were so overwhelmed with joy when she contacted us to let us know that she was back to work on all of these wonderful hats. She told me that her husband came accross her yarn stash and told her she needed to get rid of some of it. We are glad he did as pictured above is the result of her purging. She even has a new idea for creating a security octopus for our NICU warriors and she is working on those for her next donation. We can’t wait to see her new creations as she is such a talented crocheter.

If anyone else feels the need to purge some of their yarn they have stashed away we would love to take the creations off your hands:)

Easter Chicks

These chick hats are for a special Easter delivery!

We love doing these Easter inspired chicks along with the rabbits. Even if the little ones do not know about Easter yet,  it is still a great hat for Spring. We love Spring time when all the flowers are in bloom and the weather brightens up and gets warmer, yet not too warm. It’s a great time to spread rays of sunshine and we look forward to making our next delivery.

Easter Gifts from Gail

We received the above creations, just in time for our Easter delivery, from our friend Gail. This is Gail’s 3rd contribution to us! Her note read:

Please accept these 40 hats for your project.  Included are 4 bunny hats.  I hope they will be useful.

Thank you Gail for these wonderful hats, they will absolutely be useful. Especially the bunny hats, that will go nicely with our bunny hats we have included for this months delivery. Gail even sent us the cutest hat with a puppy dog and bone on it. That will surely brighten someones day.

Hoppin’ with Hope

Easter holds special childhood memories for me, and I made these hats little heads hoping that Easter will also be special for them.

This year, the difference is that these hats are all crocheted, not loomed.

We are planning a huge delivery this weekend, and these will be part of that delivery.  I hope that the recipients of the hats know how much loved they are.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Little By Little

Here are the latest 6 hats I crocheted for pediatric chemo warriors.

I don’t have as much free time as I’d like but I try to make an effort.  Little by little, I contribute to making a difference in the world.

Knitting Rays of Hope would like to continue monthly deliveries to both oncology centers and a NICU, so we need a steady stream of hats to include each month.  If you would like to contribute, please visit our Get Involved page for more information.
Thank you!

Gray Slouchy Hat

I decided that it was a good time to try a new style of hat. I have been noticing how popular the slouchy hat has become and thought I would give it a try. Below is my finished product. This style is a bit complex and doesn’t really look that great when pictured off of a head.

But on a head is much better.

The free crochet pattern that I followed for this hat was By Jenni Designs. I stopped the pattern a bit early as I felt that the hat was rather long already, and I didn’t want to make it too large. I am really pleased with how it turned out and happy to have this go out in our next donation. I am not sure that I will be attempting another slouchy hat as it took a bit long for my short attention span. It felt like I was never going to finish.

Onto the next challenge……
