About Us

With this blog, we strive to raise awareness about Cancer, babies in the NICU and  and a few other causes that are dear to our hearts.  We have always struggled with finding a way to help others, and this was the obvious answer for us, having been so affected by this horrible disease, Cancer  We hope that the hats we create impact the recipients and their families to show people really do care.

We started this effort and blog in the Spring of 2012 and have grown immensely with our awareness, skills and spiritually.  It feels great to do our little part in providing hope to those that are struggling with some pretty heavy issues.

We actively pursue new recruits and can teach just about anyone how to loom knit a cute hat.  By no means do we think of ourselves as “crafty” or “artistic”, at all, but this form of knitting allows for anyone to hand create a beautiful hat.

    Hi, found your website. So awesome, I joined a group last year & learned how to make these hats. What size loom do you use for the preemie hats? How long are they? I’ve made children’s & adults, so I’m curious. Thanks for your info. Keep up this amazing ministry.

      Hello! And Welcome! I am so glad to hear that you learned how to make hats. For preemies, we use the newborn loom (24 pegs), for a micro preemie, we use the scarf loom and go around 14-20 pegs. The average length of a preemie hat is 4 to 4 1/2 inches long from brim to top. We would love to receive your creations, from micro preemie to adult- we need all sizes :).

    I am a loom knitter and would love to make hats for cancer patients or babies. But I was wondering where do I send them and are there guidelines on what the hats need to be?

      Hello. You can send them to any hospital near you. The guidelines may depend on which hospital you send them to. For the most part you don’t want to use wool and you want to be sure that the hats are not made in a smoking environment and are pet hair free.

    Are you still accepting donations? I don’t want to get started and then find out this is an old website that isn’t still accepting donations. My kids are now grown and I have time to do projects so I would like to make myself useful and maybe taking up looming would be a good option.
