Spreading Hope…a hat at a time.

We recently were contacted by Kristy, a NICU nurse working at St. Vincent’s  Southside in Florida.  Kristy requested some hats on behalf of the babies she cares for, in her NICU.  She informed us that they are a 14 bed unit that take care of neonates greater than 2.2 pounds, including some drug babies that stay in the NICU for a couple of months.  This just pulled at our heartstrings, and we quickly went about making pumpkins and Halloween inspired hats.  We pulled the football and grey dog from Alicia’s contributions (link) and 5 of Cathy’s red hats.  On the red hats, we added a brown i-cord stem and green crocheted leaf to turn them into red delicious apples.

We hope that these hats will provide warmth to the itty bitty babies and hope to the families and nurses that love these little precious ones.  I am touched by how loving and caring nurses like Kristy can be and would like to personally send my gratitude to nurses, who chose to make their job to care and love.
