Our friend Lisa requested that we make a pink hat for her good friend who is now battling cancer. Of course we jumped at the opportunity to create a hat for her. We hope that she enjoys the hat and it brings a smile to her face and keeps her warm.
It’s the middle of October and by now, you should know that October is a month for raising awareness of breast cancer and fighting for a cure. There are many organizations supporting “going pink” in October for Breast Cancer
Awareness, including the NFL, Revlon, Avon even Marvel. We know several breast cancer survivors and love them dearly. Some interesting things that we have learned this month are:
- Men can get breast cancer! In 2012, about 2,200 American men will learn they have breast cancer.
- Breast cancer is the number 2 cause of cancer death for women (second to lung cancer)
- Early detection is critical.
Cancer seems to be more and more prevalent. We need to find a cure. We need to win this war on cancer. Our government needs to prioritize the funding for cancer research. Knowledge is power. Awareness leads to action. We need action because our families and friends are fighting different cancers, we hope to show equal support by recognizing every cancer awareness month.
