Spreading Hope…a hat at a time.

My children are huge basketball fans!  As we watched the NBA Finals last night, I made this little hat.  The “net” part is a seed stitch in 2 grayish white yarn.  The seed stitch is 1 knit, 1 purl , for 1 row and 1 purl, 1 knit, for the next row.  I changed colors for the red “rim” part and purled for 3 rows.  I then changed colors to orange for the ball and used the ewrap stitch for 3 rows and closed with the flat drawstring method.  Three crocheted chains make the black lines of a basketball.  Since the hat is for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, it only took maybe 2 quarters to make, but I do recommend keeping track of what seed stitch row you are knitting on paper.
